Our Bat bracelet was inspired by a little girl who loves bats and asked us if we could make a bracelet to help save these unique animals. Bats are often thought of as harmful creatures, but it's quite the opposite. Bats are very helpful and play a key role in pollination. This bracelet is made from black onyx, white agate and amethyst semi-precious stones.
Profits from this bracelet will benefit Rodrigues fruit bat conservation around the world.
According to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Conservancy, this critically endangered species is only found on Rodrigues Island, located about 300 miles east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean. Most of this bat population is found in a single colony at 3 roost sites they have used for more than 50 years. Habitat destruction from forces of nature and human interference are to blame for the decline in the species population.
